Walthers Proto 920-49502 HO Scale EMD FP7/F7B Diesel MILW 99A/99B

Providing enough steam to power train heat and some air conditioning systems on postwar trains taxed the standard water supply of EMD F units set-up for passenger service, prompting EMD to rollout the new FP7 in 1949. Though outwardly similar, FP7s were actually four feet longer to accommodate bigger water tanks with a capacity of 950 US gallons. Standard passenger power into the Amtrak era and beyond (with some also handling freight chores), these WalthersProto replicas are fully assembled and ready for service.

Leading the Twin Cities Hiawatha from 1950 to 1971, the Milwaukee roster boasted 16 FP7-F7B-FP7 sets that easily nudged the century mark whenever schedules demanded!

While the Milwaukee continued to use the orange, maroon and black scheme, later deliveries of FP7s arrived without the Running Indian logo on the nose, replaced by standard Milwaukee Road heralds mounted on the cab sides, and early units were soon modified to match. Based on updated units in service from 1952 to 1955, these WalthersProto replicas are ideal for Twin Cities Hiawatha service.
